Welcome To My blog--my name is Barb and I am a weaver in a small town in Wisconsin called Dell. Actually it is more of a place than a town but I love living in the middle of nowhere. I am a weaver and my studio name is"COULD HAVE BEEN A PIANO" I always said I was going to learn how to play the piano, but as luck would have it I met a wonderful group of women weavers and was hooked. I have been weaving for three years or so but have been addicted to fiber since I started knitting when I was about 10. I still love to knit and do some spinning and dying as well. I love natural fiber and texture. I like to use thrift store finds and use my imagination.

Something new

I wanted to try something new for the cutlery my husband carried around most of Europe for a month! We bought the tableware in Naples after eating in a restaurant that was using it.  So I thought I needed something sleek and modern to go with it.  The pattern is actually very easy to thread--each color is a set of  two heddles, 2-1, 2,1 etc.  The treadling is the reverse for each color 1-2, 1-2 etc. Since I made an error in calculating the length I needed I only have enough warp for two placemats but I think I will use the same colors and choose another design and make two more.  The fiber is 10/2 cotton and Tencel.

  1. I think this is one of y favorite things you have made. Can't wait to see them off the loom.

  2. No wonder you were so antsy to get started on this idea: it's gorgeous. I may be biassed, but I love it when you get down to weaving (as opposed to going to Europe, or, possibly piano...)
