Welcome To My blog--my name is Barb and I am a weaver in a small town in Wisconsin called Dell. Actually it is more of a place than a town but I love living in the middle of nowhere. I am a weaver and my studio name is"COULD HAVE BEEN A PIANO" I always said I was going to learn how to play the piano, but as luck would have it I met a wonderful group of women weavers and was hooked. I have been weaving for three years or so but have been addicted to fiber since I started knitting when I was about 10. I still love to knit and do some spinning and dying as well. I love natural fiber and texture. I like to use thrift store finds and use my imagination.

Weaver's Socks a.k.a Mittens for your feet

It's been very cold here lately. My weaving studio is located about 50 yards from my house and has a wood stove.  I have a very great husband who starts the fire for me early in the morning so I can usually be out there by 9 or so.  I had a pair of felted slippers that I wore a hole in so I needed a new "something" to keep me warm while weaving.  I saw these in a knitting book and was intrigued by their design.  They are made exactly like mittens.  I am going to make some more pairs and have figured out a way that for me would be easier.  I love them.
Since they are made of two colors they will be very warm.  I am thinking about making them on very large needles and felting them.  Anyone have any other ideas?

  1. They are beautiful and look cozy. I think a felted pair would be stunning. Go for it.
